Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana residents of Rajasthan can install rooftop solar systems (usually up to 3 kW for households) and receive central financial assistance (subsidy) directly in their bank accounts after installation and verification. The scheme supports net metering, which lets households export excess electricity to the grid and receive credit for it, helping reduce electricity bills.

In addition to the central subsidy, the Rajasthan government has introduced a complementary benefit: households can receive free electricity benefits up to 150 units per month under certain conditions. This initiative aims to expand clean energy usage, lower energy costs, and improve the overall reliability of power supply for domestic consumers across the state.
Subsidy Support:
• Central Government subsidy — up to around ₹78,000 for a 3 kW solar system (₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, ₹78,000 for 3 kW or above).
• Rajasthan State subsidy — additional ₹17,000 for eligible beneficiaries under certain conditions (for example, beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Free Electricity Scheme).
Free Electricity Allocation:
The Rajasthan government provides 150 units of free electricity per month to over one crore domestic consumers through the combined solar initiative. Households consuming up to this limit effectively get zero electricity bill.
Zero Electricity Bills (Up to 150 units):
• Consumers who install rooftop solar systems or qualify under the state’s plan can benefit from free electricity for monthly usage up to 150 units.
• Households that do not have rooftop space can also benefit through virtual net metering from community solar installations, although this is currently at the state’s implementation stage.
Net Metering Credits:
Surplus solar power exported to the grid earns credits, which can offset electricity bills further and even allow consumers to earn for excess power supplied back to the grid. Recent regulatory decisions in Rajasthan have increased feed-in tariffs for solar users selling electricity back to the grid, enhancing financial returns.
Rooftop Solar Growth:
Rajasthan has witnessed rapid expansion of rooftop solar installations, with over 100,000 installations and combined installed capacity exceeding 400 MW under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This strong participation reflects increasing awareness and affordability.

To apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana in Uttar Pradesh, applicants must:
Be Indian citizens
Own a residential property with suitable rooftop space
Have a valid electricity connection
Not have previously availed of rooftop solar subsidy under similar schemes

Is yojana ke tahat eligible ghar malik ko solar installation par subsidy di jati hai, jo seedha unke bank account me transfer hoti hai.
Subsidy system capacity (kW) ke hisaab se milti hai. 1kW se lekar 3kW tak aur usse adhik capacity par alag-alag subsidy slab hoti hai. Maximum ₹78,000 tak ki subsidy mil sakti hai (terms & conditions ke anusaar).
